"I have a motor that I just acquired. If is an Evenrude short shaft outboard motor, 1994 15hp. I am looking in the Evenrude web site and I see four models ::

E15ELERE 1994
E15RELERE 1994
E15RERE 1994
E15RLERE 1994

I need to identify my motor but it does not have a part number anywhere that I can find. Would Does someone here have a way I can identify this motor? any help would be appreciated!

"I don't find a bracket outside the motor. they painted the motor. You know, now that you say this is a nice motor, when I went to try it: I wanted to test the pull rope to see if all was well. Do you know that when I pulled just slightly, no force at all, the motor started. That is nice. How else can I identify this motor? I truly need help here!"

"i think you made a mistake with E15 REL ER E

E15 E ER E .... electric start (E)
E15 EL ER E .... electric start, long shaft (EL)
E15 R ER E .... rope start (R)
E15 RL ER E .... rope start, longshaft (RL)
are the alternatives.

So if yours has a rope start and is a standard shaft it must be E15RERE

You get to know JWB's dreadful passion for abbreviations .... eventually ,.. I' ve moaned at him before!!!

Other sd means other side.

BTW sometimes you can find the model number on a core plug on the engine."

"I dont know where the core plug will be on that. I could not even tell you where it is on mine off hand.(but I know it's visible and I know it has the number on it)
It's a disc about the size of a US quarter dollar.

The kill switch is on the sde of the tiller. #16 in THIS DIAGRAM #33 is the safety lanyard.

"Hi,

I am sorry but II cannot get to the Parts catalog that you provided. Do you know what the part is called? I have gone through the entire catalog and cannot find the name of the part. In older Johnson motors, I used to be able to find the part under kill switch. What is the part called now?

I really appreciate your help."
