Evinrude 75 need some advice. Thanks

Hi everyone,


I’m hoping someone can help me figure out an occasional issue with my 2008 Evinrude 75 HP E-TEC.


The engine runs normally most of the time, but occasionally when we accelerate and the RPM goes past around 2,000 RPM, it suddenly makes a loud/strange noise. It almost sounds like the engine is revving or slipping, similar to a car accelerating in neutral. When it happens, the engine doesn’t seem to push the boat normally.


It doesn’t happen every time, which makes it harder to diagnose. After slowing down, it may go back to running normally again.


Has anyone experienced something similar? Could this be related to the prop/hub, lower unit, fuel delivery, or something with the E-TEC itself?


What would you recommend checking first?

I guess I missed that fact in post#1 , silly me.----Model # of the motor ?----What boat is it mounted on?----How high is the transom?---Is it 20" or something else?

It's mounted on a 17 foot Trumph
