firing prob

1987 25 s.s. will only run on 1 cyc
untill motor is warmed up then the 2nd one kicks in and runs fine till the boat launch.any way to test coils or is it carb? thanks in advance

The carburetor feeds both cylinders.--------Use a timing light to determine which cylinder is the problem.--Then switch coils around to see what happens.

it is bottom cycl. after 10 or 15 min of running on 1 cycl it snaps out of it and runs fine untill shut down. if it still doesnt run after switching coils around bad coil?

It could be as simple as a bad ground on the coil.------Or the plug wire itself.---Report what you find after switching the coils around.

i switched coils by switching the plug wires out of the coils and i got nothing, no fire or spark no starting. put them back the way they go and it starts right up but just on the top cycl

Switch the COILS over.----Remove coil and install in the other position !!----Then report what you find.

i switched em over and the bottom cycl still doesnt run? im assuming its not a coil itself
issue?
