Ford Lehman 2714E Oil Pressure

My SW oil pressure gauge first reads 40 for 60 seconds upon start up then drops to 10. This has been like this for two years since I bought the boat. We have just changed oil and filters. We checked the oil pressure with a manual gauge and it is 40. Seems like I need a new sensor and matching gauge but I have read articles about Ford oil gauges being poorly designed. Any suggestion?

Hi craig, the oil sender is likely bad and was either an ac or vdo sender and they are different for dual station or single station gages. Check the old sender for manufacturers name.
