I have a Johnson 4.5 and i recently ordered a kit for my fuel pump. I watched a youtube video on how to assemble it and at the end of the video the guy said that if you blow through the inlet it should make a noise and if you blow through the outlet there should be no air comming out. Well, there is a noise but there is also air comming out the inlet when i blow into the outlet, not alot but… I have tried swapping all the parts and also swapped new ones with old ones to se if i could get it to work. I have probably assembled it about 10-15 times now but there is still air comming out the inlet when i blow into the outlet. Anyone have any experience in this and might know what the problem could be? Thanks.Photo of fuel pump

It is very easy to assemble the pump parts incorrectly.----A factory repair kit comes with complete instructions.-----The fuel pump is driven by crankcase compression PRESSURE.-----There may be an issue there.----How did this motor run for you last season ?

Not uncommon to get a motor after a previous owner made mistakes.-----A new factory pump is big $$$----An Amazon " special " is an option to at least test run this motor.-------There is very little that can go wrong with these simple pumps.-----I am amazed by how many are sold on the internet !!!
