HELP IDENTIFYING ENGINE

I have an early Ford interceptor stamped NOE32R # 316465 on a FE block, and cant seem to find out any thing about it. Anyone able to offer advice where to look?

partial decode, based on what I have available shows

E= 312CI, 260HP v8
32= UNK - configuration descriptor
R= reverse rotation
3=YR of MFG - 1963
16465= sequential serial number

The configuration descriptors are listed in a CODE SHEET and I haven't found a copy yet...

you are welcome!

as a check, you should be able to check the casting numbers on the block and look them up for verification.

if you need the basic maintenance data, i can share the little bit I have acquired..

There are likely to be additional data stamped into the front of the block around the perimeter of the water pump housing...
