Honda 225 vertical shaft bushing orientation

I've been installing my 225 Hondas vertical shaft bushing with the grooves pointing up toward the powerhead, several sources indicated this is the correct orientation. Well over at thehulltruth.com someone posted this shop manual image that shows and indicates the vertical shaft bushing goes in with the grooves pointing down toward the gearcase. Have I been installing mine the wrong way?

Makes no difference which way you install it, just be sure to live it literally with a good quality marine grease
