Honda 50 no water flow

I have quick question, honda was not pushing water out pee hole. I took it to mechanic who replaced pump and it put out a weak stream for a few trips last fall. Put it in this spring and short trip no water at all coming out pee hole. I called him and he is planning to replace water pump again and charge me of course. Does anyone have any idea what could cause no water to flow after pump just replaced last fall. He says I must have started it out of water. I only did when putting in storage ran for 10 seconds to use fogging spray. Other than that never. I am worried that I will pay him again and it will burn out again in a few trips. Any ideas?

10 seconds out of water is enough to burn up the impeller.

If there were pieces missing from the first impeller or pieces missing from this impeller, make sure he backflushes the system from the thermostat to be sure that there are no pieces of impeller blocking the system.

Hopefully, he used a Honda brand impeller kit.

There could also just be debris lodged in the pee tube. It plugs up easily. There are some recent posts from others who have documented their quest against plugged up pee tubes. There are some very good ideas. Search for 40 or 50 HP, since they have the same cooling system.

If you have access to compressed air, shoot it into the pee hole to blow it out. Many critters like to make nests in them. It may block up again. Refer to the posts that I mentioned above, they have creative solutions for that also.

disconnect water tube from the discharge nipple at the block.
remove the nipple and i will bet there will be debris plugging the oriface.
run the motor on muffs fro about 20 -30 seconds, and yes there will be water blowing every where, and i bet it will clear.
i had the same problem for years before i did this and it's worked well.

if you run it on muffs, make sure you tape up the pick up on the bottom of the cavitation plate! I used to not think that was important...........

I have to clean the p-tube out every spring, tiny spiders seem to love it.

Does the p-tube (telltale) serve any other purpose beyond confirming that the impeller is pumping water?

Nope, it's just an indicator...
but you'll want to keep it clear as it's the only visible sign
that your water pump is working.

is there any way to purge water from motor if water pump isnt working I have salt water in motor and need to get it out

Remove thermostat and flush from there. There should be an attachment spot for a garden hose too for flushing but removing the thermostat would give a more complete flush. Also gives the opportunity to check the thermostat.
