Hello all like a lot of others I see on these forums my bf150 is running warm. 2015 model 400hrs on it.
Runs up to 115 plus degrees Celsius (239 Fahrenheit)at 5,500 rpm No overheating alarm however alarm does work as went off when I got weed and when descaling.
I have replaced all 4 temp sensors.
Water pump (complete)
Water pump hose grommet
Poppet valve
Thermostats
Descalled
Took to Honda with this list charged me $400 and replaced thermostats again just after i had done them grrr..So I'm lost and need some direction. I am thinking I have a blockage somewhere but where to start?
Any suggestions??
Thank you

Hi,
I have never worked on a 150 so just tossing out some thoughts not backed up with actual experience.

But, just want to point out that, in pretty much any internal combustion engine, approximately 1/3 of heat rejection is via the exhaust system.

Also, since a majority of the cooling water passes through that system before exiting, it would make an excellent place to search for signs of blockage or mineral deposits.

I read the posts here regularly and one thing I've seen with the big V-6 engines is the exhaust manifold "return hoses" get restricted due to debris and mineral buildup.

That would make me suspicious about what might be found in items 4. 5. 6. and 7...
Sorry, link failed. I will repost.

There are also areas, such as the exhaust manifold anode inspection and replacement ports, that might be a good place to look for signs of water restrictions. See items 3 in the link below

Just an idea to consider. I hope you can get it sorted out.

Good luck.

When you replaced the thermostats, did they look really ugly? Just a sign of mineral or salt deposits or other debris/crap. You say you got alarms from weeds and descaling, so you may not have got it all cleaned out? I assume you descaled in a barrel?

hot at high rpm 5500 did you check clean replace pressure release valve. yes its a pain to get at the back bolt
