What I found is a pee hole that Honda puts in the front case cover rite behind the elect. connection bracket factory made. In order to see it you have to either remove or undo the mounting bolts to this bracket and push it aside. If you look at the picture I attached you can see what looks like a horizontal cup with a pie shape cut at the bottom and a raised nub with an 8th hole in the center. This is where the oil is leaking out of. From what I ascertained, and mind you I made plenty of phone calls to Honda themselves, and four dealership mechanics. Everyone including Honda could tell me what this factory made hole was there for. And I notice several people chiming in with the same problem but no post of a solution. So finally I went to a mechanic friend of mine who allowed me to look at a powerhead that he had on the bench. Looking underneath the front case cover with the fly wheel off we can see a 3"deep x 1"x1" galley that leads up to this factory made hole. If you look closely at these pics you can see the galley that tapers smaller as it gets closer to this hole. Of course from the outside.
What we came up with this hole is to let you know that when you have an oil leak where the fly wheel is, the oil will fill up in this area and seep out when the engine is tilted forward. So if someone knows what I speak of is it something that I have to address immediately, or can I ignore it for a season and repair it on the off season. I'm pretty sure it's the Oil seals where the drive shaft comes through, including the O rings where the pump mounts. Which means Powerhead removal to repair. I found one video that shows the removal of a Virago Powerhead and replacement of said seals. Does anyone know of a Honda fix of the same ?
