Honda BF250 Oil Pressure Sensor

Anyone know where there oil pressure sensor is located on a 2017 Honda BF250? Was running today and the engine cutout due to “low oil pressure” “low lubrication error”. Oil level is fine. Engine starts up immediately after cutting out. Seems like a faulty sensor/bad wiring connection.

Welcome to the Honda forum.

I have no experience with this outboard but I see there are two oil pressure switches shown in the parts diagram libk below. Items 24 &.25.

Access doesn't seem easy as they look to be in the "valley" underneath the intake manifold.

But, again, no experience working on these so it might not be as bad as that.

To be safe though, you might want to consider hooking in a mechanical gauge and checking actual OP although I couldn't direct you how to accomplish that either.

Possible oil pressure failure due to crankshaft thrust washer failure. Check oil pressure with a mech gauge as per service manual, min 15psi at idle, 55psi at 3000rpm
 
I have a Honda 250 (2019) with 330 hours and when I get on plane the engine goes into limp mode, took to Honda dealer in SLC and they spent 30 hours ($5700) w parts doing everything Honda’s told them to do. Final result, rebuild the engine at 15k or buy a new one at $21k! Honda washed their hands of it! I would definitely recommend staying away from Honda, they have motors that are good for 300 hours??? WTF???? Anybody else had these problems?
 
That is a rough deal. In Australia we have 7 years warranty abd in cases of low hours, good will warranty on known issues. Thrust washer failure on the V6 Hondas are a known issue and if crank end float was checked at correct service intervals,would have been picked up before catastrophic failure occurred. I would consider legal action, espeacially since the dealer claims Honda was supervising the diagnosis. 30 hrs is bloody ridiculous, you can do a full rebuild in less time
 
Here in Aus they would have done it under warranty, we have 7 years warranty here provide the motor is serviced every 100hrs or annually. The thrust washer failure was a known problem and would have been picked up earlier through crank end float checks.
