Honda BF30 (2014) – Throttle linkage not opening fully at WOT?
Hi everyone!

I recently bought a 2014 Honda BF30 (3-cylinder, 4-stroke). Since it's my first time running this engine, I was expecting a bit more top speed out of it, as I know this motor should be capable of more.

While checking the throttle setup with the engine off, I opened the lever all the way to WOT (Wide Open Throttle) and noticed that the linkage/throttle valve only opens about halfway.

(I added a pictureshowing the maximum position it reaches right now)

I think I can adjust the linkage/cable to make it open further, but I want to be 100% sure before changing anything:

Is the valve supposed to open fully horizontal / 90 degrees?

Does anyone with a Honda BF30, BF40, or BF50 have a photo or know for sure how far the linkage/butterfly valve is supposed to move at full throttle?

Thanks a lot for the help!

Hi,
I don't want to represent myself as an expert on these...only worked on one 30 Honda many years ago.

But i did read the throttle adjustment directions back then and the set up in your pic looks to be at about 1/2 throttle.
The little wheel in the ramp slot of the throttle cam plate sits "just" up over the upper bend in the slot at WOT.

I didn't actually make that adjustment so I can't recall the details about how that's achieved. Sorry.
