I am wondering if the bolts in my Honda is of bad quality? I often hear of bolts that has broken.

1. Should I replace orginal bolts, preventively, at thermostat, inlet manifold and waterjacket with stainless types?
2. Could there be a problem with corrosion between the stainless bolt and aluminium? The orginal bolts are chrome plated of any reason?
3. Any suggestions of lubricant for the bolts?

If the bolts have never been out, I’ve had problems with the chrome bolts in the aluminium, corrosion in the threads. If you use an antiseize, don’t overtighten, but ok to reuse them or use stainless imho. But even stainless will cause rust/electrolysis in the aluminum, so still use antiseize.

Age and never removed combine to create this problem, I broke a bolt off in a thermostat on a 90hp, probably the thermostat had not been changed in 10 years, had to drill the bolt out. I’d use one of the induction bolt heaters if possible on a similar bolt in future.

Thanks for your advices.
Now I have removed the critical bolts, none snapped, and reinstalled them with Loctite LB 8009.
Hope they comes off easily next time I need to unscrew them.
