"I have a 99' 15 hp johnson, I know it's only a 15 hp, but does anyone have any advice on on getting a little more power or performance out of it?"

"It's basically a 9.9 with better carburation and exhaust tuning -- so it's had all the help that can be reasonably applied.

Things like higher octane fuel, nitrous, head shaving can help, but only nitro will give a dramatic, measureable improvement (along with shortened life).

If you're looking to get your boat going faster, you should concentrate on prop and boat trim -- they'll have a more dramatic effect than the 1/4 hp you'll get by bumping the octane."

"That was pretty much the outlook I had, thought I'd ask any how. I'm still playing with the prop situation. I have the boat trimmed as well as can be I believe. thanks for the feed back and information"
