Jumping RPM

Good day!

I’m trying to fix STBD engine, but now the PORT engine has died. I just received parts for my STBD engine, successfully replaced them, and am ready to test it. However, the port engine doesn’t start. It cranks, starts for a second, then stops, and it doesn't respond to the throttle at all, even if I give it a little.

I thought the issue might be with the fuel pressure regulator, so I swapped it with the one from the STBD engine, and it started up fine. I turned it off, tried to start it again, and it started, but the RPM fluctuated. After a minute, the RPMs stabilized. However, the next attempt to start it failed. It cranks, starts at low RPM, then stops.

I’ve used new petrol, a new fuel filter, and a new water separator fuel filter with no water in it. The sparks were changed last year.

Can you advise where else I should look? Thank you in advance!

checking for adequate fuel pressure would be my next step...
Unfortunately, I currently don’t have anything with which I can check the pressure. Two weeks ago, while I was starting the engine and moving a herd, the beep sound occurred and the RPM started to jump. After 15 minutes, it normalized.

Problem solved. The issue was with the pump's connector and the wires inside it. They need to be changed or rewired. By the way, does anybody know how to open that plastic plug?
