Hi
Is it normal that water picked up by the seacock runs freely through the live well pump without the pump being turned on?
My new to me boat has a live well pump which feeds into my fish hold.
The challenge I have is while underway, if the seacock is open the live well fills up.
If my drain is plugged (with a plug or fish or other stuff) the tank over fills spilling into my gunnel foam and making it's way to my bilge. (though the hose hole cut into the fish hold).
Yes i can close the sea cock but my crew is often new and forgets, and the handle is out of sight. ( after market, was installed by the previous owner)
Yes I can plug the hose hole and yes i can install another valve to shut the water off at the fish hold but it seems odd the water will flow freely through the pump when the switch is not on.
Any thoughts?
following a http to the live well pump i have and a pic of it.
