Hi folks, I acquired a 1975 Evinrude 6504R 6hp Fisherman in the middle of last year. It's been running great at mid and high speed, but I've been having trouble getting the motor to run at low speed. I thought it must be a dirty carb problem, so I got myself a kit and cleaned it out. The motor ran exactly the same after redoing the carb. I took everything apart again to see if I had done anything wrong and I saw something I need a judgement call on.
The service manual shows that the low speed needle should look like this:
