Our host site lists OEM regulator 42785 $19.98, and Sierra 18-5740 $90.42 Anyone know why the huge difference?

might be an obsolete part they are trying to close out as yes normally the Sierra/Oem price is sierra half of OEM...Well usually OEM Mercruiser costs more than anything from Sierra. I needed a regulator bc mine was orig and had issue with crumbling insulation on the wires. Not burnt or touching anything they shouldn't mind you but old age (1988). The diode went bad but the alternator tested just fine. Getting it rebuilt anyway at an independant alt/starter rebuild shop called Sure Power in Jackson Ga. They told me they can rebuild a marine alternator. They did a great job on our '59 Apache 1wire alternator a few years back.

Which one? OEM or Siera? If OEM how much $$$Host had one in stock. So its on its way! Thank you anyway kghost! Your avitar is scary but you have helped me alot.
