Mariner 1985 40 hp made in japan?

Looking at mariner 40 hp oil injected cover says. Guy says its a 1985 ? is It? 40ELO 6E9 L 427813. And what is the mix on this ? 50-1.2 cycle marine oil? This was made in japan tag says.

I get 1987 for that # and 50:1 TCW is correct,sorry can't help with the cover

The "oil injection" on this model was the (inline) auto-blend system.

So no oil pump on/at the motor - it was an oil tank and assembly that plugged in between the gas tank and the motor.

It killed more outboards than almost any other single cause in history - so if it's still there, throw at as far away from the motor as you can (and then check to make sure it didn't spontaneously reconnect when you weren't looking) and mix your gas...

I have a Mariner 40hp motor, but I cannot find out what year it is. 40ELO 6E9 L 425846. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks
