Mariner 25hp Help

Thanks, i can get it later. A friend is trying to get it up and running for me. There is one number missing on the id and last time i asked for help here, someone managed to identify my engine as this one.
 
You seem to be looking for the Mercury part number. Which is shown as NLA. No Longer Available.

If the Yamaha part number were known it might be available. Or maybe not.
 
Many thanks for your help boscoe. That part looks similar and may work. The part i have is the exact part listed for the Mariner 25c. I am slowly getting there with your help and others. I assume mercury and yamaha and mariner are virtually the same company ? and the engines are similar.

I searched on ebay uk and contacted very many companies with no luck. Then the very last guy got back to me after he got home from work.

He has 1 garage and 3 large sheds full of parts, 1,500 parts ! He replied and said yes i have 2 of them ! He took pics and listed it for me and i bought it.

This engine i bought second hand, must be over 40 years old. I bought a boat and 2 engines from a nice guy in england, i am in wales. The old mercury 4hp 2 stroke aux i also got, fired up first time and has its own little fuel tank. I will post back when i get it all out in the irish sea here ! cheers from blighty.
 
Mercury Marine and Yamaha are completely different company's. Mercury Marine being a US based company whereas Yamaha is based in Japan.

Mercury Marine offered a number of models under the Mariner brand.

Even though they are competitors, Yamaha produced a number of motors for Mercury Marine that are branded as Mariners and Mercury. Yours happens to be one.

If I knew the complete ID of your motor I can confirm or not that it was made by Yamaha. And could verify the Yamaha brand that is the equivalent model. Now days it can be easier to get Yamaha parts and literature for stuff they made and sold to Mercury Marine. Stuff no longer sold by Mercury Marine.
 
Thanks again, good to learn all of this. My engine will be back here soon and my buddy will fit the lever on it. I will post the id when i get it back.
 
i found my old thread and asked this then...... can you help identify a 25hp mariner i bought, on the id, i can only see 5 numbers not 6 ? 55437? it looks like the sixth number maybe rubbed off..... a nice guy replied and said that its coming up as the mariner 25c ?
