mercruiser 5.0 problems

Mercruiser 5.0 turns over but won't fire. Changed 90 amp fuse. Still when I turn ignition on...I don't hear the fuel pump run. I have dual engines, I hear it on the starboard side which starts. Any help here?

I have not checked for spark. I have 2002 Searay Amberjack. Might be 2001 engine. But I don't think it is getting fuel since I don't hear the fuel pump kick on. Turns over fine.

Put steady power to the electric fuel pump see if it works. If yes then it may be the relay.

How that relay works is the oil sender sends juice to it. it senses oil pressure, no oil pressure no juice is sent to the fuel pump.

But if the fuel pump went ??

That's why i said put steady power to the fuel pump see if it works. You will bypass the relay and the oil sender bullchit. Another safety feature.

If you don't hear the fuel pump when you turn on the ignition, remove the hose clamp from the large barrel connector on the engine and re-seat the connector.

If this does not work Locate the fuel pump relay, as stated by guyjg above and test it.

Thank you. I will try anything. Is there a reset button somewhere? Just going down the lake, the engine stopped. I thought it ran out of gas.

Ditto Chief. An issue with the dead man switch will cause those exact symptoms. If switch is ok, then relay, harness plug, oil pressure switch or pump as suggested above.
