Mercruiser Clean Power information.

Dumb question alert – please forgive me!

I have installed a brand new Mercruiser V8 6.2L 350HP Engine with DTS Controls. Like much of the installation many of the ancillary install items are extra.

Currently testing and debugging the installation and find I have no power to the dash to supply the instruments and DTS throttle and shift. The main helm cable from the engine has all been installed etc; however … I am missing a Clean Power cable. From the information I can work out the clean power cable appears to supply the 14pin main cable to the helm for power to the instrumentation etc.

I have power to the engine to the main circuit breaker etc and currently looking if anything else I have overlooked.

I have ordered a Clean Power cable - so really looking for confirmation that this is more than likely my problem.

O/K ... with a little bit of searching I found the following which answers my query...

Mercruiser Clean Power Connection

The clean power connection for Mercruiser engines is crucial for maintaining the battery's charge and

ensuring the engine's operation. Here are the key points regarding the clean power connection:

The clean power harness is used to reduce voltage drop when the battery is located near the helm of the boat. It connects to the junction box at the helm and is compatible with all L4 SC Verados, 200/225 Opti DTS, 20 in. L6 Verados, and MCM (sterndrive) DTS and EC engines.

It is important to note that the clean power harness should be connected DIRECTLY TO THE ENGINE CRANKING BATTERY AT ALL TIMES. It should not be on a battery "switch".

If the battery is drained due to the clean power harness, it may be due to improper installation or a

switch being used instead of a direct connection.

The clean power harness is essential for powering the helm and other components of the DTS system,

ensuring that the boat remains operational even when not in use.
