mercruiser shift cable install tool to help it tthru the bellow

Yeppers, the homemade bullet design like that makes the cable so, so much easier to install plus add mercury power tune spray 92-858080Q03, it goes in like melted butter... Without the bullet 'some say heat the end of the bellows in warm water in which still makes it pretty challenging to accomplish and could still damage the bellows going in especially with the aftermarket shift cable bellows.... Also recently learned of hint number 2, if using an aftermarket shift bellows, try to reuse the original Merc OEM hose clamp part number 54-815504320 as there is a design difference in the clamps and the aftermarket clamps tends to walk the bellows off the gimbal housing as you tighten the clamp down and if you do get the aftermarket clamp to work, there's a decent chance (in my opinion) that you are not getting it torqued down properly like the OEM clamp does.

Are you making these up BT Doctur? There ought to be a market for these out there somewhere.

machining time on the lathe is about 2 hours, If somebody wants to pay for my tme Im up for it
The rod used in the cable installation is not metric or sae but a 1/4 x 28 tap work just fine,
Iused brass because its slipperyer, Guessing a few could be made from a single rod

I don't remember exactly (because it was several years ago), but I think I wrapped some tarp tape around the end to ease the edge, then put some Glycerine on it to lubricate. Glycerine is the lube hat comes with Volvo-Penta raw water pump kits and it won't damage metal or rubber.

Woodworking stores like Rockler sell Glycerine- it's not expensive and it doesn't evaporate.

Really, Glycerine....

Dawn dish soap works perfectly well.
