MOD for New Larger Water Indicator (pee hole) for Honda BF50?

Has anyone here heard of the Water exit port mod?

This is a mod that replaces the 1998 (perhaps several years pre/post) with a 2004+ water exit port (at engine block). The later model port has a larger ID that allows for increased water flow upon exit of the engine block.
However, the OEM hose for the later model block port has a larger ID on one end (for larger ID block port), but the other end of hose (where it exits at plastic nipple port) reduces to same size as older models and I believe uses same plastic nipple port as older models. Perhaps this smaller ID at final exit is to maintain water back pressure?

Is this a legit mod?
Why did Honda increase block exit port but reduce hose size at plastic exit nipple?

If mod does improve flow, wouldn’t it be better if hose was same size ID all the way to exit (or is back pressure a concern)? This would require not using the plastic nipple and just have hose exit engine case with a zip tie at end to keep hose in place.

Thoughts?
 
Many of my motors don't have the plastic restricter/nozzle when I get them, and I don't install one. They get a piece of 1/8" whatever tubing I have laying around, that's pushed on to the fitting at the block and routed out the hole the restrictor/nozzle was mounted in.

My thought is that as long as you don't get carried away with much larger outlet fittings at the block, you can't hurt anything here.
 
The tell tale is just a bypass to indicate that the pump is working. Back pressure, per se', isn't really part of the equation. But, the issue of "path of least resistance" would likely apply at some point. If too much water gets diverted away from the block, it could negatively impact maximum engine cooling.

Like Alan suggests, as long as you don't get carried away with upsizing the block outlet it should be just fine.

I've upsized many and eliminated the plastic pebble/twig catcher (side cover nipple) with no ill effects.

The correct routing of the tube as well as keeping the tube "fresh" is probably the best way to prevent plugging. Those tubes harden and need to be replaced about every 3rd season or so or they tend to trap more debris.

That and not operating in shallow or mossy/weedy water are good for keeping the bypass clear. But a little good ol' boy engineering doesn't hurt either ;>)
