motor mounting bracket replacing my 1978 evinrude 70 hp with a 1969 evinrude 55hp

I will be replacing my 1978 evinrude 70 hp outboard with a 1969 evinrude 55hp outboard. Will the mounting bracket holes be the same, or will I need to drill new ones?

The 69 motor used seperate mounting brackets........................The holes should be " close " for a fit.try it, it may work...........................Note ------Going from a 78-- 70 HP to a 69 --55 HP is a huge step backwards as far as reliability is concerned. The 69 ignition is a trouble shooting and expensive nitemare, not to mention the thinwall pistons ( if original ) that break and put a hole in the block.
