"My career has kept me tied down for the past 5 years. Now that I'm retired I want to get my boat and motor ready for some fishing. The '92 model 40hp Johnson has not been started in over 5 years. inspect gas line and bulb...i

inspect gas line and bulb...i would just replace the whole thing from tank to motor..the small o-rings in the connectors are prob hard as rocks and the bulb is prolly dryrotted..i would run an extra half pint of oil in the 1st 6 gallons of gas ...change lower unit oil...run it at home with lower unit in a barrel or large cooler with a hose running into whatever you use to replace water..i do not like to run a motor for any extended period on muffs..good luck
