MPI 5.0 shutting off once put in gear

started out intermittently once on plane and going, could go for an hour plus, now happens as soon as you put in gear.

Have you checked the ignition interrupter switch? It might be out of adjustment, broken or loose? The one at the shift linkage next to the carb, it momentarily cuts ignition during the shift into gear so it doesn't shift too hard. I would check that first.
