Need a sleeve

I recently bought a boat with a super clean 2004 175 carved Johnson. Owner told me it ran, honestly I wasn’t buying the boat for the motor I wanted the T-top and console for another project but though heck, it’s a bonus as I only paid $500 for the whole works. The motor is extremely clean for a Chesapeake Bay boat so I suspect its low hours. It’s an 04 and the decals on the boat ran out in 2010.

i got it home and began stripping the boat and got the motor fired up and it blew smoke out of the #6 carb. Sure enough 0 compression on that hole. Pulled the head, nice melted down piston. Cylinder wall is jacked beyond repair. I’ve always wanted to rebuild an outboard and thought this is my chance but I’m having problems finding a sleeve for that motor. Anyone know where I can find one?

You have to change the whole block from 2001 to 2006 150hp takes the same block as the 175 hp.Maybe you could have it re-bored to .030 oversize depends how bad the damage is

Porting is different on 150 and 175 block. You can bore up to .040 on that block. Before you spend a dime on it have block pressured tested as they are known to be leakers and a sleeve is not a DIY project unless you have a machine shop....

The info i posted comes direct from boats net site .i did a cross referance check and posted the results here, they only list an oversize piston .020 and .030 so i dont know whos who in the zoo.:)
