"New to this forum, would like to say contrary to few other posters I realy like the Nissan outboard motors. Anyways I fish at the 5 to 6 thousand ft elevation, thinkin bout installing the High Altitude Jet Kit(3000 Feet). Motor seems to accelerate well from idle to a little over half throttle, then less to full throtle. would it be a good idea to install the jet kit. Thank you for your time.P.S. This is a new motor not yet fully broke in."

You really should change the j

You really should change the jets out as the increased elevation is drowning the engine in gas. You would see at least a 25% increase in power too.

You need to remove and disassemble the carb. If that's beyond your skills, get some qualified help.

Installing that high-altitude jet kit is definitely the way to go. At 5,000+ feet, your engine is essentially 'choking' on too much fuel because the air is thinner. Swapping to a smaller jet will lean it out and should give you back that top-end power. Just a heads-up: if you ever take the boat back down to sea level, make sure to swap the original jet back in, or you'll run too lean and risk overheating!
