Hello Forum,
I've had 8 trouble free seasons with this engine thanks to what I've learned from you guys on here and a copy of the factory manual. Had a scary low 198 hours on it when I bought the boat in 2017, but have had no issues while putting 700 plus hours on it. First time ever, started beeping, and I have some surging at idle, when I pick the refs up in neutral to 1500 it fluctuates up and down about 100 rpm. Still ran fine at cruising speed. On a cold start no alarm for the first few minutes, than it starts beeping. Per Chawk Mans write up I shunted the red plug and I'm getting a blink every 3 seconds, pointing to the O2 sensor, or a bad plug or coil. No corrosion on my connections, or around the sensor. I cleared my codes but problem didn't magically disappear.
I've not had any O2 sensor problem up to now, still have the old style 22mm sensor, what's my next move, replace with the same? I see there is a route guys go down with the new style sensor and ECM/ECU.
Should I be ordering the kit w part # 06356-ZY3-305 ? It's currently 682 bucks on boats.net, not cheap. Options? Anything else I should consider before condemning the O2 sensor? I'm on an offshore island, no dealer around here, I'm on my own.
