Oil leaking from prop

Hey there is oil leaking from my prop on the lower end of my two stroke outboard. What should I do???
Engine model # and pictures will help a lot. When you say crack it could mean different locations on the lower unit. The picture of the location and the oil will help tell the story. Having the model number will help to know what vintage and type of lower unit you are talking about.

A common cause of oil leaking at the prop shaft is fishing line that wrapped around and slid past the seal. If the seals haven't been replaced, they probably need to be.

FYI- there is a seal remover that doesn't require disassembly, but if you have water in the gearcase and this isn't a new problem, disassembly & inspection would be a good idea. At the very least, the bearing carrier can come out and it will show pitting, wear, etc at that end.

Is it black sticky oil that smells like gas? If that's the case it's normal, coming from unburned 2 stroke oil.

If it's gear oil then you need to fix the leak.

If potentially I had to fix the leak, would I just need to get a new prop seal, or do you know any other potential problems or fixes?

Have you determined if it's just 2 stroke oily residue leaking out of the motor or gear oil?
Johnson made outboards for 80 years, nobody can tell you how hard it is to replace a seal without knowing what you have.
