im piecing a 2.5l motor together and the coil that was given with this motor doesnt fit the mounting bracket. its a larger diameter
googling says a sierra 18-5437
if i go to the original specs from the drawings on this site,
it recommends a sierra 18-5433 but it also recommended an evinrude 3852217
evinrude recommended a 18-5437
now 18-5437 recommended a mallory 9-29705
the mallory is rated as 1.25/1.38 ohms
i read somewhere my coil is supposed to be a 1.5 ohm
does anyone know what the original specs were for the omc coil 32193a 2 coil????

i was thinking of going with a 12v/1.5 ohm after market coil but the high voltage is a mystery, some of the after markets are 40,000 volt/45,000 volt and then i read you will start frying plugs and getting condensation in the cap

i wonder if the difference between the 18-5437 and 18-5433 is just the outside diameters are different

The 'high voltage' value really doesn't matter....you typically don't exceed 20K volts inside a stock engine's combustion chamber.

most 1.5 ohm coils will need a ballast resistor or a length of resistance wire to limit the current flow...

i took the coil and bracket off a 3.0l and a resistor from a 305 in the boat, ill just wire it up and see what happens
