Outboard trim not working - please help

2014 5.7 Mercruiser, Bravo 3 - I have 2 questions: (1) trim is stuck in 100% down position, how do I diagnose the problem? (2) will it hurt anything if I go boating with the trim in this position? I am an amateur mechanic, never had this problem, any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
 
Does the pump run, are the trim pump power wires connected
using a jumper from the + battery touch the blue motor wire at the solenoid. motor should go up

Well,..... Considerin' you had problems with the drive droppin', 'n now it won't go up, I suggest ya pull the pump, 'n see if you can find the problem,.....
 
I’ve had a look just now and you are right, I have a hydraulic problem, as I lost almost all my hydraulic oil in the reservoir and there is a bunch of oil in the bottom of my boat. I think it is one of the hose fittings where it connects to the pump. There seems to be a threaded fitting and quick connect. Are you familiar with this type of connection and what do you recommend as far as removal, inspection, and retorquing? The quick connect does not appear to be seating like the other side. Thanks
 
Ayuh,.... The quick connectors work like every other slidin' collar quick connector,.....

Pull the slidin' ring back, 'n push or pull the hose,.... like a shop air quick connector,....
 
Still have a hydraulic leak somewhere. Thought it was one of the connections to the pump. Any other suggestions on where I should look? Access is limited. Any help would be appreciated.
 
Found a leak in one of the 2 hoses about a foot from the pump (hose was crimped for some reason). I can not change out the entire hose because I can’t see or get to the other end. Can I cut and splice the 1/4” hose at the leak by putting a small pipe between the hose pieces and use two hose clamps? Or am I stuck with having to put the boat in the shop? Getting frustrated in Tx. Thanks
 
There is enough pressure that you need to replace the entire hose, which comes into the distribution block on the bottom of the transom housing on the outside of the boat. Get the right hose, drop the distribution block off the transom housing inscrew the hose snake a new one thought the outdrive ...

any splice like you you are proposing will work for less than two minutes and put more oil in the bilge.
 
How important is the electrode sensor, item a in the drawing? I “lost” the orange and black wires when I was threading the replacement hose back in. damn this is hard☹️
 
Ayuh,...... As I said in yer thread at iboats,....

The system is self-bleedin',.... Just run it up, 'n down a few times,......

The wires are the Mercathode anti-corrosion system
