Painting trailer hubs

I removed my hubs so the bearings & seals could be checked and the paint has peeled in places on the hubs, allowing rust to form. One seal was torn, so that huib had a good amount of grease on it, so I let them sit in gasoline, brushed off whatever remained and now, I want to repaint them.

The paint seemed to be some kind of epoxy or polyester, but those are often sold in larger volume than I would need.

What's the consensus on paint types/brands? A friend who has serviced & restored boats for decades isn't a fan of POR, but someone who managed a NAPA store and paint department likes it a lot. I have used Rustoleum's Rust Restorer with good results. I'm sure Eastwood's products are all rebranded.

The trailer is for a 17' 4Winns, without brakes, so excessive heat won't be a problem.

Thanks.

Rustoleum works ok and is faster than POR...

I'd be incline to try powder coating...you can get nearly any color you want. If you prefer the machined metal look, I have an associate that swears by nickel coating...

I need to get it done as quickly and cheaply as possible- it has taken far longer than I wanted (due to a lot of unexpected BS) but this could cause problems on the road which none of the other needed work would. I spun the hub on the left side and it moved so well I didn't expect to see a torn seal but it's not a difficult repair and the seals will arrive today.

Nickel would be great- I prefer that to Chrome.

quick and cheap....

then probably a sand blast and rustoleum is quickest...use the hardener if you can get it......definitely improves the durability

I just went with the Rust Reformer- if it doesn't bond, I can deal with it later since the hubs aren't hard to remove. I was going to buy a sandblasting gun but nobody nearby had them and I wanted to get them on because driving all over would waste too much time. Top coated with Semi gloss enamel. It's not going in the water until I finish the repairs to the upper GC, anyway.
