Pre ‘61 aluminum boat repaint

I have aqua swan 15.5’ aluminum vhull that from the best I can tell is pre 1961. It appears a previous owner painted over the original white paint with green. The green is now flaking off throughout the vessel. I’d like to give it a fresh cover of paint over the winter. Would that original paint contain lead? If so would it be wise to strip the paint down to the bare aluminum or would I be better off searching for a better paint to paint over that original paint?
