Prop spin direction

My 1990 force 120 prop does not spin left or right while in neutral. It will spin freely either direction while in forward or reverse. Is this normal?

No I didnt. But I probably rotated the shift rod somehow. I've put it on and taken it off at least 5 times now. I've got the service manual and it says to thread the shift rod in until it bottoms out, then back it off 4 turns. I will try that and see what happens.
 
Well I took the lower unit off.
Screwed in the shift rod all the way til it bottomed out, then backed it off 4 complete turns.
It works perfect now. Shifts smoother than it ever has.
Prop spins freely in neutral. Does not spin freely in forward or reverse.

Now I can mark that off the to do list.
On to the next problem.
