After some inspection, I found that my dented and roughed up 14P prop needs a change. The engine is a 1995 Mercury 60 2 stroke and the hull is an older 15.5’ fish and ski. However, the whole front bow riding area has everything removed, so this is essentially a 15.5’ aluminum boat with a floor and 60hp. It currently tops out at 37 mph, which is a little squirrely for this hull. Trimming up to achieve more speed was past my comfort zone (and I’m a speed freak).

I’d like to get better mpg for my longer runs I plan on taking. Am I better off looking for a new 14P or move up at a 17, have much higher top end, but cruise at a much lower rpm?
