2001 XR6 150.
Long story short, installing a Bay Manufacturing 5" spacer to go from long shaft to extra long shaft. The 5" draft shaft extension won't fit through the drive shaft hole. Bay says to take a needle nose and pull out the water tube, then insert the extension through the water tube hole within the exhaust housing.
That might be easy when new, but this is a 23 year old motor. Never been in salt, but still stuck fast. I'm trying not to crush the tube or flatten a side in pulling it out. The dealer service manual and marine engine diagram don't make it look like the tube is flared at the top to keep it from passing through the seal. Still, I can't get a grip on it and it won't budge with the tip of a needle nose pliers.
Any suggestions? Thanks
