repowering 5.7

I want to rebuild my 5.7 in a chaparral 2006 256 ssi .. It does not have exhaust in transom. All in lower unit. I want to do a stroker engine for torque low compression with a comp can extreme. they have the bigger one they recommend but not sure if this boat can handle it without causing water inversion. someone has to know of a good combination for the vortec 350 . I would change the springs and do the work needed. And is it possible to program the computer to except these changes. thanks for any help if someone here can answer this.

If your building a stock 6.2 then reversion will not be an issue. If you get into to much valve overlap then there will be a concern.

Being a 2006 it would probably have a 555 ECM, and while there are a few that might be able to reflash it, most cannot. It normally takes another used ECM which has already been programmed. Now that is with a stock tune, if your building more then stock then it will need a specific tune
 
I went from a 283cid @ 185HP on my Volvo280 thru drive exhaust system to a 5.7@260HP engine ( MERC MIE). I had to change exhaust from thru leg to thru transom ( with mufflers) and gained back 450 RPM. Mufflers 3" CENTEK "Minis"
