Reverse lock-out shaft

I have a 1973 Thunderbolt 650.
The shaft that raises to engage reverse lock when shifting into reverse ( that prevents engine from raising when in reverse) may be bent. I can't find a picture anywhere to compare to determine whether mine is bent or not. If you know the real name of this part I'd really appreciate you letting me know.

If you have a picture of this part, I would appreciate you adding it in a response.

That looks to be the way they made it in the factory.

You could be missing your reverse lock cam,or it is installed back to front,number 55 in this diagram http://www.marineengine.com/parts/m...2-thru-3293183/gear-housing-assembly-complete .
