Shortened Pee hose?

Ok been doing some digging into the v4 90hp Johnson I plan on swapping onto my 16ft SPL Sunbird.
Has good compression (115 in all cylinder) Has good spark. So looking good so far.

My question is this.
The previous owner has shorted the pee hose dramatically. It is maybe 4" now and goes right to the pee drain.
Is this ok? Or should I put the regular pee hose length back on it and route it normally?

Will it hurt or help being shorter?

Well, got the motor running. Fired right up after sitting for approx 3 years.
Very little tell-tale water (peeing) So I have decided to do the water pump. Not sure when it has been done last. But, this is a new motor to me. So might as well get it done before putting it on the boat.
I think I may just as well re-route the hose in question here. Not sure if it matters or not. But I guess just for my own feel good.
