Stuck propeller

I have my grandpa's 1977 johnson 4hp and I can't get the propeller off. I didn't know if there is a trick to getting it off without breaking it as it is plastic. Thanks

That must be an aftermarket prop because I don't believe an OEM prop from 1977 would be plastic.

Not sure if it's original but I just ordered another one oem and it's plastic as well, cause I assume I am gonna have to cut this one off.... It's really stuck on there I just didn't know if I was missing something like a bolt or nut I was not knowing of.

Yes, I confirmed it’s a plastic propeller. There should be a cotter pin at the dome that needs to be removed first. If the inner plastic hasn’t seized to the shaft, a few wiggles should free it and allow it to slide off.

If it’s stuck, try applying PB Blaster in areas where it can seep between the shaft and the propeller. It may take a few days of repeated applications to loosen it. If it still won’t budge, the last option would be to break it off the shaft.
