UFI upgrade kit

1990 20 hp johnson.... I recently installed Sierra ignition upgrade kit to remove the components from under the flywheel. I still have no spark on either cylinder. Coils test good. Ground all test good. I did not have the specialty tool to set the timer sensor air gap, and am not sure how important that is. I've read that it is important, but was hoping to at least see some spark. I had to shave down some of the plastic on the new cdi sensor to get it to clear the flywheel (tech service told me to do this). What to check next?

Its not mine. Helping a buddy out. He got stranded on the river no spark either cylinder. Removed the flywheel and found that multiple screws holding down ignition components had backed out allowing the components to bounce around and get destroyed by the flywheel. Went to replace the obviously ruined parts and found there was an upgrade kit and thats all I found available for parts, so ordered it and installed it. Still no spark either cylinder. Yes it has electric start.
