use of Tool# 387780 Upper crank seal remover

I recently purchased a tool for removing the upper crank seal without disassembling the power head on my 95 Evinrude 25HP. It is tool #387780. Has anyone ever used one of these? I am thinking that it has to be driven into the seal and then twisted until the threads bite and then pull the seal. However, I would feel a lot better about trying this knowing that this is actually the way to do it.

Yep, that's the way it's done.

Twist it while you're driving it in.

Personally I never hit it with a hammer. I simply applied pressure while turning it in.

I've had a few seals that gave me a battle Boobie.... I then cut the edge of the rubber seal away with an x-acto knife, just enough to have the tool grab the seal.

Justincsw-----Those upper seals are very reliable / rarely fail.----What is this motor doing / not doing that leads you to believe the seal is bad ?
