What's good compression for a 1955 Evinrude AquaSonic FleetTwin @ 7.5 hp? THANKS!

I have the "opportunity" to purchase a 1955 Evinrude AquaSonic FleetTwin @ 7.5 hp. The seller states that both cylinders are showing 85. Is that good? Does anyone know what the compression would have been on this motor when it was new?

Welcome to the Forum. If the gauge is correct that's pretty good compression for that ol' girl. New they were perhaps 95 to 100 psi.....but I never had a new one. I like to see perhaps 75 pounds to feel good about the motor.
