Wont restart after running at higher RPM

So this is the second time, Its a 2 stroke 75 hp Merc 1986 model.

After running faultless for 40 miles at 26knots 4200-4400RPM and I stop the motor it wont restart. It will kick and idle until it dies, not long enough to get into gear. It seems like its flooded but cant understand why and if it sits for 20mins or more it starts straight away. Just wondering where to start I have now increased the idle so hopefully that will help in the future.

Has anyone encountered this issue?

I sold a perfectly good, excellent running boat to a co-worker who fished the Intercoastal Canal on the South Texas coast. He told me that he loaded the boat heavily with camping gear and drove some 20 miles as fast as it would go to their cabin on stilts. He said that the results of his abuse (didn't change the prop with a shallower pitch) he burned a hole in at least one piston of a 125 HP Johnson V4.

This may or may not have relevance to your possible problem.
