Hey I have a 2002 80hp 4 stroke that was run dry and the impeller was destroyed. I installed a new impeller put everything back together and the tell tail was not as strong when running on muffs and after 10 min of running the temperature buzzer starting going off and the tell tail was spitting also tried in the lake to make sure it wasn't a water flow issue. I dropped the lower unit again and found old bits of impeller in the pick up tube and in the top of the pump. I removed the thermostat and hooked the hose to the flush fitting on the side of the motor and got a few more pieces to come out of the pick up tube. Installed the lower unit again and same thing 10 min and the buzzer goes off. I was wondering if anyone has this issue. My next step would be remove the exhaust cover and try and clean out the water jacket I believe there is a blockage in one of the passages. Has anyone else had a similar issue.
