what number of teeth i need for gear for this engine

Gears are normally ordered by part number. Based on what the parts catalogue says.

Spline count and number of teeth are not the same thing.

What does spline count have to do with the number of gear teeth?

???---Post #1 shows an arrow pointing at a gear.----It says 10 teeth.----Simple count shows 13 teeth on the gear.----Poster is confused in my opinion.

It looks like they are trying to buy some cheap knockoff gearset instead of something that will last

The more I read the internet the more that it seems that folks think words don't matter.

Splines become teeth. Antiventilation plates become anticavitation plates. Batteries become banks. Pound foot becomes foot pound. Voltage becomes amps.

Gently try and educate someone and all hell can break loose.
