ZR6 Question

I have a constant 4 amp drain on the battery. After some diagnostics I have determined the alternator is pulling about .4 amps which is guess is about normal. The remaining 3.6 amps is being consumed by the ECM. When I unplug harness J2 from the ECM, the draw slowly goes down to zero.

My question is should the ECM draw this much current?

4.0 amps from the battery, with the key off, is not normal. 0.4 amps by the alternator, key off, is also not normal.

The indicators are that the ZR6 uses a MEFI-4b version Delphi ecu. I'm sure it has a 'keep alive' circuit for the RAM on it but haven't measured one of those. I believe the old GM standard for autos is about 25 mA or 0.025A. This is total, out of the battery, with key removed from the switch.

I trust you know its bad practice to unplug the ecu with the key on; many will tell you to disconnect the battery before even touching the ecu.
