Broken flywheel magnets; looking for new flywheel

Hello, I have a problem with my 1996 30hp mariner; the flywheel magnets are coming apart!
It's electric start only obviously with a charging coil.
I caught it before any damage was done to the stator coils, but I cannot find a new flywheel to save my life. I just bought this boat because it was a good deal, maybe there was a reason :)

The part number on the flywheel is: 276-823760.

Below are some pics of the engine data plate and my predicament.
The rope start flywheels look the same just with the basket thing on top? Are merc flywheels the same? I'm having a hard time finding what else crosses to that part number but i'm sure someone in here can point me to an ebay listing or something for this part.
Thanks so much!

Using your s/n, I come up with part # 261-859233T23 is the current replacement. It is still available, big $$$.

The number on the flywheel is a casting #, not the part # of the final product.

Ah, thank you! I should have looked up the part by serial number, I just made a bad assumption about that casting number.

Also OUCH on the price of that thing... I'll have to keep an eye on ebay for something a bit more affordable.

See that symbol after the part Nr. it looks like the Briggs and Stratton logo, maybe they supplied the flywheel/ignition components.

So I got a new flywheel on ebay from an engine in later serial range split, but it lists the same part number for both engines. I figured it would be fine.
I installed the new flywheel and the engine WILL NOT RUN. It seems like the ignition timing is advanced because it sorta catches and stops spinning the engine.

I put the old flywheel back on with missing magnets (so obviously out of balance). The engine immediately started and idled perfectly. what the ????

If I line the flywheels up on top of each other (lining up the key), the magnets are in the exact same spots, the timing marks are in the same spot, everything looks the same.

This is the serial tag from the donor engine:

Now that I look more closely at this thing, the outside magnets are for the charging coil and the inside magnets (around the hub) are for the ignition trigger??

Since apparently 97+ flywheels are different, and i now have one, why would I need all the stuff?
Wouldn't it be a better idea just to buy a 97+ trigger, PN 853960T; then i have a brand new part and it's cheaper.

Looking at the two pickups, the newer one has more wires and a different connector. I can splice the wires, but how can I know which wires to splice for it to work?

Will I then run into a situation where I end up needing the ignition module or something?

The ignition module, coils, and wiring harness are different in 97+, REALLLYYYY glad I didn't buy that ebay listing or i'd be well on my way to a nice mooring for my dock. I either need the ENTIRE electrical system from a later motor, or the correct flywheel :/
